I have this exact bed and I love mine! I have a fuzzy carpet under mine so it probably collects some of the dust, but I do stuff my skinny section of the vacuum hose underneath it every so often, however I’m not overly concerned about it. Bed is beautiful!!!

Black flexible pipe wrap (kind of like a swim noodle) can be placed around the perimeter under it and should block dust. You can slice it in half if necessary. You might want to glue it to the frame if it looks like it will work.

You could get those flat rolling things which make it easy to slide furniture. Alternatively recruit two strong people to live for a minute or so periodically while someone else vacuums.

How often do must people do a really thorough vacuum under a bed anyway. Many people have storage boxes and other items which hinder fastidious sweeping or vacuuming.

Put a rug or carpet under it...and don't worry about dust.

Gross. I think you will need to get a vacuum that has a powerful blow function then just blow out the dust bunnies. Pretty poor design for sure .

I have a similar bed from Bernhardt. We purchased motorized bases for the mattress makes watching tv or reading in bed more comfortable added benefit is being able to lift the foot or head enough to get in there once a week with a vacuum nozzle.

I have a low bed, too. King size, very heavy, impossible to clean under. I finally devised a way: I can lift one leg just enough to raise it enough to get the Roomba under it. Once it's under there, I lower the bed and let the Roomba do its thing for a few minutes, then I raise the leg again (I slip a book under it) and the Roomba will find its way out from under. After years of struggle, it's a breeze now to keep it clean. This would work with either carpet or hard surface floor.

Four times a year, REMOVE the mattress and box springs entirely, for a thorough cleaning under and BEHIND the bed/mattress and box springs . Easy as pie, step right into the frame. When you do this? You aren't going to believe what is under and behind.Yes I am deadly serious. What is it? It's not just "dust" it is you and yours and the dead skin that largely IS dust. Write it on your calendar, and do it. In between ? Don't worry about it. ...............other than to have a very good upholstery attachment to do the sdes and foot, and remove the long dog hair that will be clinging to it at the floor line. Yes I am serious, and of course, no I am not kidding. : ) But thirty minutes every three months will hardly kill you and hubby and it will feel good to know you are not sleeping above the "gross".....and in front of what will be clinging to the back side of the box either .

The Design of the bed will limit the amount of dust/hair that gets underneath. Not a big deal. I think these houzzers are afraid of their own dusty shadow. Use the long extension like Jan has on a vacuum

I’ve often wondered if hairspray might cut down the volume of hair shed by our two guys, but find that frequent use of a Furminator helps. Ok, still have to vacuum at least every other day.

Bed risers. It will raise the bed up 1-4 inches depending on brand. The Roomba zips under there easily and the dust bin is ugh.....something that can't be unseen.

Nobody is afraid of dust, it's just a lot nicer not to be breathing it. A bedroom is the dustiest room in the house. It's where you shake the covers, fluff the pillows free of your own shedding dead skin, and where you are most often naked. It's just fact. Add dog hair? Nope. Best? Keep the DOGS out of the master.

olychick, I'm impressed. My mattress is so heavy that it takes both of us to lift it. There's no way that I could lift a corner of the bed frame, mattress and foundation! I love the idea of a Roomba, but I have oriental rugs with fringe.

It doesn't surprise me that there is such a wide range of view on what needs to be cleaned and how often. I am surprised that those who aren't bothered by dust seem to be unaware of the issues it causes for people with allergies, etc. In my case, I just like how much cleaner the room smells and feels. I don't need to keep the cats out of the room, so I don't. Vacuuming under each bed in the house adds about 1-2 minutes per bed each week. Damp mopping under each bed adds another 2 minutes per bed per month. It's worth ~15 minutes per month to me.

Just drag the mattress off three or four times a year AND the box springs. Vacuum well and move on. I do this and I have nine inches of clearance , no. PET. You can't get it done well any other way. Mattresss and box? Vacuum those TOO.

The ability to vacuum underneath the beds is why I prefer to buy beds that are not low to the ground. I make the mister move the mattress and box spring off of our bed after I move the nightstand on his side out of the way, and vacuum like that only once a month, the other three weeks I stick the hose vacuum attachment thingy all the way underneath starting at the head of the bed and work my way down to the foot on each side. The electric blanket, duvet, and pillows are off the bed and into one of the empty laundry baskets out of the way before I vacuum, I do the back part of the mattress/box spring at the head of the bed down to the floor, then strip off the sheets. Clean sheets and all the other bedding stuff go onto the bed as the final step and the process is done. Repeat all steps in the kids' bedroom (they get to do the sheets and bed-making themselves though), move on to vacuum the remainder of the carpeted and upholstered areas of the house, and swiffer the LVP areas last.

Dusting *always* happens before all of this vacuuming, to make the whole exercise as effective as possible. Dusting last would mean that all of the effort previously put into the whole routine was for naught. ;)

We have carpet only on the stairs in the entry, the main floor living room, the master bedroom and the kids' bedroom (both on the main floor). The basement is all LVP which makes it much easier to clean, the futon down in the family room area is the only real upholstered-type item and it has a washable cover plus I keep a blanket draped from the top of the back and tucked into the bottom edge of the front. The blanket gets to be washed very regularly and the cover can be washed less frequently because of that.

Yes .....and my parents home, while NOT grand, was a haven of sparkling windows, all double hung, all working in a 1930 build ........line dried sheets, gleaming hardwoods, and blinding white towels. They did everything together. Don't knock it until you have lived it. Yeah, I am a bit like them in habits of the household variety. When you have to pitch in and help as a kid? You take the lessons WITH you. My bed is bliss by the way.

Hahaha - I told my mom years ago that in my home, I do things my way and in her home she gets to do things her way. It took roughly a decade of living across the country from each other with her having to fly out to SoCal to see me a couple of times during only 2 visits a year consisting of one week per visit - for her to realize that it was more enjoyable to simply spend time doing things with me rather than her insisting on coming to my house and cleaning things "her way" before we did anything else. I like to have more 'stuff' in/around my house than she wants/needs to have, and I don't enjoy my mom popping up to 'clean something because it's not to her expectations at the moment'. We can bicker about it or we can have a decent mom-daughter relationship where we go do things and talk to each other more frequently, daily if by text! I'm glad that she chose the 'not bickering' route. ;)

A dust ruffle might help but I know of nothing short of a solid base against the floor that would stop dust from getting beneath furniture -- especially in a bedroom where, it seems, the bedding is a part of the reason for the dust.

Would your new bed be high enough off the ground for one of those robot vacs? If so, invest in one and be done with worrying.

Just try to Hoover as much as you can weekly at least and every so often move the bed to clean fully- prevention build up of dust in the key. I Hoover and wipe under bed at least weekly.

I like the idea of the flexible attachment for vacuum. Was also thinking about the flexible clear tubing you find at the hardware store...if you could find a way to snake it around to prevent the dust and pet hair from going under. It’ll still come in from the back though.

I love my shop vac that can blow as well as suck. It is great for getting in places where a vacuum wand just won't do the job. I often open the doors and blow out debris much like a leaf blower. It really gets things clean.

I understand that some car cleaning places do this too.

Use a strong garden leaf blower to blow dust from under and behind the bed or other heavy furniture.

This is hilarious. We have a similar bed and a golden retriever. I haven't even once considered vacuuming under it in over a year...oops. We are going to turn our mattress this weekend though so maybe I'll do it then!

My vacuum came with a tool to clean under the fridge. It flat and long. It should work to get dust from under the bed.

Thank you all for your brilliant advice. The potentially great news is that I was in the restoration hardware store and saw the bed set up. The adjustable platform had the base resting ON the floor thus preventing any dust from getting under there. I am crossing my fingers that that will be the case as we will be housing our boxspring in the platform. There is the option to raise the platform off the floor if you are not using a boxspring. We are getting the custom made bed next week so we will see. Fingers crossed. Thank you again for all your advice

I have a low profile bed too which is faux leather upholstered. And every 2 weeks I lifted the mattress and juggled to clean the dust bunnies with my vacuum cleaner. It is very easy to install and not expensive. It gets the job done. It has a lot of other useful applications. I have used it on front door, room doors, closet doors, under sofa. I see so much difference in the dust in my house. I hope it helps.

Hi, if yoou sofa is lowprofiled and has wood or metal legs then you can use them as support. Even if you apply it to the sofa partly you will see the difference in the dust collected. I have some furnitures I can't attach but for those I can, for example my bed, front door, room doors closet doors etc, the house is a lot dust free then before. Hope this helps.

Looks like you have at least half an inch of space under the bed. There are flat microfiber dusters that will allow you to reach every inch of the underside of your bed so you can clean it regularly instead of having to lift the bed or blow dust everywhere.

That bed designer should not be. Can the Roomba live underneath? You could fit the cord under at least. I’d do risers to be able to get under it with a vacuum and a swifter.

My cleaning lady actually moves the bed weekly to clean under it. She is strong!

I quite frankly, make sure i can clean under a bed before i buy one, I leave it completely free of stuff so i can wash with disinfectant every week after vacuuming. One inch is not much space for something to go under and clean it, so you would have to move it every so often to clean thoroughly. A long duster ( with extension rod) can go under your bed, I suggest you use that to clean underneath.
