Here are some links: Florentina Frenzy!!!

Cori Anne's Florentina Her pics capture its true colour much better than mine. It is a perfect cherry red.

    A general search.

Mine came as an own-root from ARE and did not bloom its first year in a pot. It gave one flush its second year after planting out and last year it bloom a couple of times. It has grown a LOT and is very healthy. I believe once the dead tree and hugely overgrown shrubbery is cut back she will bloom like crazy. She needs full sun in my experience. Chris from Newflora also mentioned this in my above linked post. You will not be disappointed.

Wow! Mesmerising !! Thank you so much for taking the time to gather the links for me. You’re very kind!

I wonder if it’ll bloom this summer? Hmmmm... i’ll Keep you posted.

    Much love xx

    Exquisite, Sheila!!!

OMG wow! That’s just one plant?

I did a video planting up my rose here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC16o5VOHSFaEYSpSP-wiaMw

beautiful Sheila! wow! I just got mine in June and it is growing up a trellis about 7 feet but has not bloomed yet. It's in shade now in winter but the leaves are the most deep green still. I sure hope it blooms in the summer because I put it in the front of my house for drama!

One plant here and half hidden behind the manzanita.

I ordered two Florentina for the archway to my new garden. I hope if does as well as posted here. I debated over and over between Lady in Red and Florentina and finally just ordered so they will hopefully be in stock. I also ordered two Honeymoon for the other end archway.

I love the way florintinas flowers come in clusters. The color stays and the way the stems arch out with the floers on the end is very pretty. This rose needs room. The glossy leaves are beautiful. This is a rose you have to wait a few years on.

I've always love this rose since it was first introduced. Thanks for the links, Vaporvac. It is indeed a beautiful rose. I am not sure how it does in zone 5 though. I highly doubt it will climb for me. Now to think of it, I may have asked the same question a few years back too.

@jjpeace (zone 5b Canada) - Mine have been very hardy in zone 6a - tip hardy two years and last winter was unusually cold and I had to prune just a bit off of some of the canes but they were still long enough to train. It could possibly work for you.

Thanks Dave. I may try it to see. Winter has been generally warmer here over the years so it may grow.

JJPeace, my first link above titled 'Florentina Frenzy' was taken in a Z5 garden after a cold winter. It's was at least 5 yrs. old at the time, predating its official introduction and stood at least 7' tall. The amount of blooms was astounding. The rose next to it, Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg, was even taller.

Thanks Vaporvac. I didn’t realize this rose does well in colder zone as well. I need to keep an eye on this rose.

I don't know if you have Lowe's, but they had it there last summer with Arborose tags.

I do have a Lowe's near me. I will indeed check it out this spring. Thanks

I planted a few last year, no blooms yet. Maybe they're too close to the tree trunks. I missed Cori Ann, she should be done with school soon.

I love my Florentina so much I got a second one. Covered with chalice-shape blooms. The color is a fabulous scarlet. Grew quickly to 7 feet high and 8 feet wide. Vigorous and cold hardy in zone 6a.

    That is phenomenal!

Your Florentina is gorgeous! I am excited because I have 2 ordered for spring for a red and cream area that I am planting near my future greenhouse and our 2 Cypress Swamp ponds.

    I
I should mention: Florentina is relatively thorny (as many climbers are). Also, she is good in partial shade. There are several trees near her, and she gets about 4 hours direct sun and 12 hours dappled sun. ☀️

It takes a lot for me to love a red rose, and I love Florentina. The clusters open all at once.

Mine is young, beautiful and healthy.

I love my Florentina- she takes a couple of years to settle in so don’t worry if you don’t see too many blooms at first- when she finally gets ready she is a showstopper!

If only she had a strong scent this would be the perfect rose - but other than that lack she is reliably stupendous without any effort or fussing on my part in zone 6 upstate NY

Flowers, I always think your Florentina is a ringer for Ascot. Your rose is so over the top gorgeous.

I love all the Florentina photos on this thread. I have to say the photos on HMF are not nearly as good as those right above. Diane

Oh i forgot to say one other positive about Florentina is that she sets a lot of nice big rosehips. I collected quite a few this fall and am winter sowing them so we will see if i get any nice seedlings!

Diane, I agree that the photos on the forum are just as good, and sometimes better, than the photos on HMF. There are definitely some experienced rosarians here. When I want to see what any given rose looks like, I usually check here, then HMF, in that order. One advantage of the forum, is the gardener's growing zone is usually posted, and rarely posted on HMF.

And, you are right about Florentina resembling Ascot. She also reminds me of a smaller version of Rouge Royale.

Mine is only 2-3 years old. I like it so much that I have two as well. Mine has bloomed all summer long. It doesn't really have a down time like some of my other climbers. I also enjoy the dark leaves.

Lala, that Red Eden is so romantic..I think she was made for Balck metal trellises! ♡

I think I might need at least a half dozen lol

Darcy, Wow look at all those blooms! It is a big plus to me that it makes hips. More for the wildlife.

Isn't that rose of Lala's Florentina, not Red Eden? I'm considering Florentina, so I'm being cautious. Diane

i would wait for Lalas answer, but the bloom form is exactyexactly that of my Florentina

Sorry I meant to type Florentina lol!! I have Red Eden on the brain too 😅 I have them both ordered for spring. Watch I'll be calling them each other's name once they start blooming here lol.
