Personally it seems really busy to me. I don't think the glass tiles are necessary at all. I think just the subway tile alone is a much nicer choice. If you are second guessing it- have them remove the small glass tiles.

The glass tiles have nothing to do with the rest of the backsplash??? whut? wait until the tile is sealed and grouted, maybe it will look at home there. good luck.

I would say remove it,it might look more decent to use it as border ,my suggestion your backsplash doesnt need border or if it you would like to do the border choose some thing more simple

Before you make your decision to tear any tiles off, get a wet sponge and wet down the travertine subway tiles...Natural stone looks entirely different once it is sealed (closer to how it appears if you wet it down with a cloth or sponge. )

Hi there, yes that's what I mean : ) Your natural stone will look quite a bit darker, and the colour will be enhanced...and depending on the sealant (ie Tile Lab is a very commonly used brand) you can have a matte sheen or a bit of gloss....The colour of grout you chose will also have an effect in the overall look, because with the natural stone, the grout fills in the small voids and gaps in the stone.

I like the look from far away with the lights on. Plus with your normal things on the counter they will be much less of a contrast.

I see what you are saying Trish. I was real hesitant when I was working with the designer but I know I would not have said "yes" if I didn't like it! I know I don't much care for it right now - but maybe when I see the final product it will all be good. I just wonder if I should have them do only one small section (coffee bar area - not in the pics) and see what it looks like before going forward. I also need to find out how hard it is to remove - now, and later - if I let them grout etc... This is so not my thing! :)

If you have the patience (and maybe a bit more budget for the installation) then having them do a small section to be sure is a great idea...Not every kitchen allows for that opportunity. Give the grout colour some thought, too....

Trish you are so right that the grout color can make all the difference. What color would you suggest here? I was thinking a medium silver grey to tone it all done and fade into the background.

Remove it . Your cabinets are a modern style but the tile you used is rustic . Either get glass tile or something smooth to go with the cabinets or get some rustic or beaten/ country looking cabinets . I hope I was of help.
