At my brother's house over the holidays, I saw the potholders I made years ago had seen plenty of use. The innards are probably old cotton towels.

I'm making new ones with three layers of cotton batting. They do a lot of roasting and cooking on a professional range, so a lot of hot pots.

My machine keeps missing stitches, even with a straight stitch. I'm using a walking foot, 90 quilting needle and cotton thread. I reduced the top tension, which helped, but didn't eliminate the problem.

Any suggestions on how to make this work?
