Two Panel Doors - Flat or Raised?

Good morning.

In the door selection phase of our build.

We have zeroed in on two panel interior doors and cannot decided between flat and raised panel. We are building a traditional style home and will utilize solid core doors for bedrooms and bathrooms.

We are stuck between the Jeldwen Carrara raised panel and the Jeldwen Monroe flat panel.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

If the trim package will be similar to the model you toured I would use the raised panel as you already have raised panel and raised type moulding elements shown.

millworkman is correct--the specific style of home is important. "Traditional" is too general a description. Is it a Colonial Revival, Cape Cod, Tudor, Craftsman?

I’m sorry as my lack of description as I am not sure. Two pics attached of interior of house we toured and loved and plan to go with this type of styling - whichever it is.

This home had 6 panel doors and my wife preferred the 2 panel to the 6.

Jeld-Wen's flat panel composite door doesn't have any sticking; the stiles are slightly beveled which looks odd to me. If your budget can afford them, for a traditional house I recommend flat panel TruStile doors with the sticking of your choice.

Another vote for the raised panel doors.

Of course, if you have shaker-style cabinets in the kitchen, the flat panel doors might be a better match.

Please don't do shaker style in the kitchen. While it's my favorite style and works with my craftsman house, please use a style that will work with YOUR house.

The 6 raised-panel doors in the model home work the best with the style of the home and the trimwork, IMO.

Raised panel and I agree with Diana in that 6 panel doors work better. OTOH, I would be tempted to go with the raised two panel one because it will be a lot easier clean & dust and yet has enough ornament to keep it interesting to look at. Speaking as someone who has 6 panel doors.

If you're going w/ wainscoting like the tour house, the flat panel door is just a bit too plain, IMO.
