What color are the other doors in your house and will you be painting them too?

Which room are you standing in when taking the pics of the two closed doors?

It's difficult to tell, is the wood in this area real or paneling?

Is this a bedroom? The pictures are confusing , is there a way to take a picture of the whole space ?For me way too much wood so I would paint it all white to start, if it is a bedroom then buy your bedding and pick a color from it maybe for the walls

That is indeed a good sized corridor. And a lot of wood, even for my wood loving taste.

What do you mean by getting rid of all the wood decorations? You say you are going to be removing the cabinetry, are you also planning on removing the paneling? Are you going to re-do the arch between the wall with the cabinets and the wall with the two doors as well?

Where does the door with the glass inserts lead to?

Will the wardrobes surrounding the door slide right out?

1)In my all apartment doors will be changed, maybe to the same wooden color or repainted to other.

2. Next room which is visible in the photo is the living room. From hall you can enter living room, kitchen, bathroom, wc, kids room, main entrance. Two closet doors in the picture ar bathroom and wc.
3. In hall, all walls wood decorations is the real wood
4. About get rid of wooden wall decor, hmm they just looks very old stylish, so maybe would look better without it, idkn, or maybe you have ideas how to meke them stylish?
5. About the arch, it will stay, but without the wooden decorations
6. I wont remove rebuild any walls - just remove wooden decor, repaint the walls, add new decor ideas
7. wardrobe around the door - I'll order a new one around the door, just know I want them around the door, maybe you have Ideas for it

In other words this is the hub of the house.

I just googled, "contemporary, Scandinavian, cozy, bright style," and a lot of pics had white walls and unpainted wood, many times with blue furniture.

What do you think of this idea?

Paint all doors and trim white. Do not paint the real wood at this time. Live with it for a few days to determine if the wood needs to be painted. If you think it does, perhaps just white wash it.

What color would be the best for the wardrobe with the bright or wooden walls or doors? What would be best color combinations?

The wardrobe is a big part of that small area, and since i'm pretty conservative color-wise, I would go for white. LoL no help whatsoever. Blues, grays, etc are for accent colors, so perhaps a rug in there?

What would you suggest about led/lamps solutions? :)

That's a nice layout for your apartment. From the language on the layout, you are in Lithuania?

Why do you want to remove the cabinets? They look very nice. Is it because they are wood, or because you don't like how they look in general? Are they in good condition? You could paint them white, or use a whitewash. Or maybe bleach them to pale, contemporary Scandinavian seems to have pale woods. Or you could pull in a strong color, like blues or golden yellows. Charcoal grey or a red might work too.

The doors and trim would be easy to paint white.

If you remove the wood detail paneling and replace it with drywall, it would be easy to make all that white.

I like light, so I would want ceiling lights on both sides of the arch. I would not put lights on the arch, it is already low enough without adding lights.

I'm not very good in picking out ceiling lights, mine are not the least bit exciting. Can you find some you like and then add pictures of them? That would give everyone an idea of your likes and dislikes.

Wait to pick the lighting until after the majority of the other changes have been made. This room will brighten a lot once you change the paint color. You may find then you need more light or less light than what is there now. Also your style will develop along the way.

wood is actually in very good quality. Here, in this flat, used to live a carpenter who made this design 25 years ago.

That wood is beautiful. Forget I said anything about painting or white washing it.

That wood is lovely close up. And another look at the cabinet doors, looks like the lower and upper doors are made out of the same planks. The regular doors do have a good pattern. Nice detailing.

I do not know what resale or salvage is like where you live. But you might be able to sell or donate your cabinets and wood detailing paneling if you are careful about removing it.

I do love the cabinet doors, and would just bleach them if it were my apartment. And replace the wood detail paneling with dry wall painted white.

From your inspiration pictures, I can understand you want less traditional detailing on your cabinet doors. What you want is not the current cabinets. I like how smooth and clean of detail your inspiration pictures are. I like the white cabinets door detail or hardware. I like the darker colors better for color. Nice blue. I think it would go well with white walls and arch after you take out the wood detail paneling and replace with drywall.

Where I live those details of wood like that are not very common, and do not have the bad associations you have. I can respect that it has different meaning for you.

I think you are making the right choice by removing the wood detail paneling and replacing with drywall. I hope you keep us up to date on your project as you work on it.

I think that waiting on replacing light fixtures should wait a bit until after you get your drywall installed. But do make sure you plan on whatever wiring you might need while your wood is removed and before putting up drywall.

What do your ceilings look like in the corridor? You might want to replace those with fresh drywall too since you are going to be removing so much already.

I agree that there's no need to keep things around that have bad vibes- thanks for explaining. Remove and replace those things with others in a style you love.

Rather say bad style taste than bad associons. Associations are not bad, just mostly reminds us elder peaple's house with last renovation in 80-90s :) or Soviet style - we just find it not very beautiful.
But this is with dark narrow wood panels.
Here, in my country, it is common to decor a sauna/village house with a bleached wood wide paneling decor. Or also for one wall in the office (mostly I see bleached wood panels with spaces between every pannel on a 1 wall). Find that beautiful when it used like a detail.
On the other hand, maybe this dark vertical narrow wood style will come back in style someday, who knows :)
But nowadays everyone wants to get rid of it. And now everyone are crazy about Scandinavian style 😂 I started to think that we are strange peaple.

About ceilings, I talked with builder who will help to renew this corridor. He recomended to make ceilings in white plasterboards, with holes for the lights.
But for the lights I'm thinking maybe it would be nice to place lights on both side of the arch :) what do you think? :)

Might not be a bad idea if he is removing the arch and squaring off the opening.

I'm not so sure if Rupis is removing the arch, I think they are just removing the wood detail paneling from the corridor. I thought the arch was staying since Rupis said they thought having ceiling lights on both sides of the arch was a good idea.

Rupis.. what does white plasterboard for the ceilings mean where you live? I assume it is something different than drywall? What does holes for lights mean? Do you mean can, pot, or recessed lights? Those are popular.

The lights you have in your pictures would work well. One center hole for the mounting of the light fixture, with many lights stretching across the ceiling. Very modern. I think the color of the fixture should be white or bright color, not black or a dark color.

I love and very much like that a whole wall a cabinets seems to be a normal or standard option for apartments where you live. I understand why you do not want the current cabinets.

I will not remove the arch, its actually a very thick wall and It suites quite well in corridor. I'll remove just wood decor.
