You know, cottage colors can be anything to go with your main color scheme. What colors are cabinets, floors, etc. The nice thing with a cottage is you can be more playful and bright.

Are you starting from scratch? Are you thinking whites and brights?

thanks sharpkl, its not an actual cottage, its my house. i just want the cottage colour schemes, the warm and muted colours.

Great article in Southern Living year or so ago about woman who redid an older city "cottage/bungalow" and she picked her colors from bag of marshmallows--the kind with dusky pinks and blues and purples...not my taste but the colors were lovely...

If you have trouble finding a color in paint store chips--
go to the fabric store and find a piece of material with colors you love...get those matched...
but always get sample and paint large cardboard pieces to place in the rooms and move around to check how light changes the tones...
NEVER paint swatches on the walls---just wastes time IMO

You also might check blog called Young House Love--
couple who has made a career out of what they did after buying their first home...were featured in HGTV mag last month...
they also have line of colors for BM now so moving up in the world...
they tend to favor muted type colors...

Turquoise!
