Rainforest Sunrise . Can anyone tell me what is wrong with it. The new growth has no spots , but the spot appeared after first leaves unfurled.

shadow, I have gone back and looked at all the other RS in the feed here and it would appear to me that after the hosta begins to mature, it loses the spotting. I don’t have one, but perhaps others will comment.

peren.all, love that Ruffled Mouse Ears! Gotta get one! So pretty in bloom. It seems all the “mice” have such a grand display of tight little flowers!

Ruffles n Ridges comes from Bob Fox of Fox Hosta Farms. Well worth a visit. (But wait until after I go next year, lol). Here's another shot of it behind Sea Drift.

I like seeing all the Rainbow's Ends here. It's one you can usually spot right off, but it's also just a little different in each garden. ...except sorry about yours beverly.

old_dirt, I wouldn't have guessed that was Remember Me. It's very pretty but not as much yellow as I'm used to seeing on RM.

Steve - more than 3 years for Roy, maybe 4 or 5. I had to move it once because it was taller than I thought it would be. Since it is thought to be tetraploid, I thought it would be slow but it is growing just fine.

dave, both Regalia and Rosedale Blend Master are so unique. Are they creations of yours? I am especially fond of the soft coloring of the Regalia leaf, beautiful!

Regalia is a sport of Krossa Regal registered by Ken Anderson in 1992.

Rosedale Blend Master was raised and registered by Jerry Hadrava in 2000.

That Ripple Effect is impressive. It’s hard to grow and yours looks great! All your minis are beautiful!

Thanks, kathy. It got bigger every year. I have no idea of how my hostas are going to grow on the balcony, but I'm sure gonna try to pamper them. They definitely get some sun, especially in the afternoon. My main concern is that they have enough headroom to grow and not run into the shelf above. I might have to switch the little ones to the bottom shelf and the bottom ones to the top shelf to give them more headroom on the two 3-shelf wire shelving units.

As long as its tied to some support it’ll be ok, even if it’s a little top heavy. How’s the wind on your balcony?

Baltimore can be very windy. We had 50 mph winds a couple days ago. I kept checking out my balcony window, but fortunately nobody developed wings. All hostas were still on their wire shelving units. Those pots might be fabric, but their soil is very heavy.

Oops, I forgot my beautiful Royal Tiara!

The minute this one arrived, I knew it was something special. I find its twisted leaves and delicate colored to be aristocratic. It became an instant favorite of mine.

Beth and Ester, I wonder if your RT are slug prone. Several of my Tiaras are. I am treating with vinegar drench last fall and as soon as I see pips this spring, but I thought I would ask.

I don't know if my Royal Tiara is slug prone. Wasn't last year, and up here on the balcony, I don't see how slugs will get to it. I treated all my hosts with vinegar before I moved, to try and exterminate any slug eggs. But the minute I put it into the ground in my garden last year, it was absolutely ENCHANTING. I don't know why some of them just grab us like that, but they do. Thanks to Chris at Hallson for finding me this great specimen when the webpage officially said "sold out". He dug around and found it for me. Now what are we all gonna do without Hallsons around, and who can we call about problems? :(

I purchased Royal Tiara last fall so I am not sure if it is slug prone. I will make sure to drench it in the spring with ammonia & water.
