it works very well for me Joe and its free to make. the suger just speeds things up. i use to have a bubbler for it but one day i came home from work to find it had foamed up a lot a real lot covering my carport with a very smelly mess so i dont do it that way anymore.

Good vid Glenn. Isn't compost tea the best? And after we use the tea on our plants hubs mixes the solids back in his compost piles.

I have a 5gal bucket of rabbit manure tea that has the lid on it. Its behind the barn and I forgot about it for a year and now I'm afraid to open it haha :0

Well, Glenn - I'm, "hooked" on this stuff! 1bout 1/2 of my gardening time, I stir and strain and pour. It's late in the season for many vegetables, but they won't quit - probably hooked on it too!

Yes, it's great! I didn't intend to imply that this method was labor intensive, used a bit of hyperbole to express my enthusiasm. And yes, better than what can be purchased. Do you mind telling me how much you apply to fruit trees? Another question: I have access to fresh horse manure. I have heard of making manure tea and would like to try it, but I once put a shovel ful of it in my compost bin and the smell got pretty awful. Are you aware of a natural odor neutralizer? I have a place I could let it sit and dry up, but I'm afraid that as soon as I mixed it with water, or something damp, like the compost, it will reignite the odor.

Hi Sonni, how much I give a fruit tree and how often depends on the size of the tree and whether I am spraying it on or watering the roots. Most of my fruit trees I give one to three gallons in the root zone every couple of weeks. If I am spraying it on I water it down 10 to 1 and filter well and spray every other week. I don't do this a lot only if I need to save a tree because it is having a problem.

I do make a manure tea there are somethings you need to know. First don't use fresh, I have a few reasons why, get your self a good amount of manure. I fill a couple of large bins then let it compost down for about six months. Next you need to test it to make sure its safe to use, with the wide use of herbicides caution should be used. Grayson is a broad-leaf herbicide that is sprayed on hay fields and will ruin a garden for years. After you have composted it is easy to test start some beans and when they get going plant them in the compost. if they become deformed or die don't use it.

This is how I make it: one shovel full of manure in five gallon bucket, no more than a shovel full, 1/4 cup of what ever sugar you have then fill with water and stir a couple time a day for a week. The five gallons of compost tea when done brewing should be added to a fifty gallon barrel and watered down. Five gallons of compost tea makes fifty to fifty five gallons for use. Also by using composted manure it smells less but still pretty smelly. If you want to use it as a spray 5 gallons of tea makes 100 gallons of spray. I'll be making a video on the manure tea soon and will post it in a few weeks.
