Apparently, lots of people post here because they have ordered chairs online and, surprise, the chair is uncomfortable! You, G D, and I are among the few who think our furniture should do its main job, be comfortable. It’s like dating for looks alone and wondering why your six marriages haven’t worked!

I know! I want something that will last because it is comfortable first, durable second, and beautiful third. Hence the holy grail search for two chairs.

Oh yeah. It took me over 2 years to find the right couch and have been looking for chairs off and on for 4 or more years. I swear some of the really ugly stuff ( at least to me ) is usually the most comfortable.

I'm short, and most chairs and sofas are not built for the vertically challenged. Yes, I have to sit before I buy! Hate the seating that's deep -- if I sit against the back, my feet don't touch the floor, and I have to scoot to get my feet down to stand up. I'm 5' even.

I always take my clients shopping for furniture it is a huge cost to not be comfortable . I am tall and for me to tell you what is comfortable would not work and looks can be very deceiving. If you are lucky enough to have a DWR store then you must have lots of places to shop just keep looking. I find the real problem arises when looking for matching chairs and one of you is tall the other not.

I am lucky (? given that It feeds my princessandthepeaishness) to be in the Chicago area. Have tried chairs in tomsprice (couple of options): room and board, Ethan allen, crate and barrel, Mitchell gold, etc.

I agree it's hard to tell online. In my new space, I sat on everything before I bought (I am short and finding the right depth sofa was important). I ended up with C&B sofa and chair and West Elm dining chairs. Bedroom furniture is R&B. I also have a little Mitchell Gold. So a mix of a lot!
