I have 5. A serger, an embroidery only machine, a vintage Kenmore, a Janome HD3000 and a smaller lightweight Brother with a myriad of fancy stitches. The Kenmore is my favorite along with the serger.

Four for me - a Juki straight stitch machine on my quilting frame, a Brother sewing/embroidery combo, a small lightweight Brother for classes, and a Baby Lock Espire that is my main machine.

I have a Viking Emerald and a vintage (avocado green) Kenmore. I use the Kenmore when the Viking is in the shop. The Kenmore is actually a much better machine, just no bells and whistles. Heavy like a ship's anchor though.

I have quite a few machines. Some new and some old. I have an old very pretty in a wooden cabinet, I think it is a New Home treadle machine. I would have to go look to make sure what it is and it does still sew. Then I have several Kenmores, probably 3 of those, a Phaff, that may not be spelled right, a Janome and a Brother. I also have a very old portable Singer that I really love too. There are probably some others stashed away in my sewing room. Not many were bought new. I love sewing machines.

My main machine is a Janome 6600. I also have a Janome Jem Platinum for traveling and as a backup and a Baby Lock Tiara sit-down long arm. I am really happy with all three machines.

I have my grandmother's Singer that I learned to sew on as a child. (My daughter wants it once she finishes her PhD and is settled.)

My Singer I bought when I was 17. And my eight-year old Janome.

I also have an antique child's sewing machine my daughter picked up at an antique store, but I don't know if it really sews. (She had no idea what it was and thought it would be a good travel sewing machine for me. Unfortunately, she banged it against the door when she was leaving and now there is a part rattling around in it. I'm taking it to the resale show as soon as I remember to carry it down.)

Is this a trick question?? I have 7. A table top embroidery/quilting/sewing machine (Luminaire), a long arm (HQ Avante), a quilting machine (PQ1500), a serger, a 6 needle embroidery machine, a smaller standard machine (for traveling to dance competitions where I'm the seamstress), and a treadle.

I have a much loved older Bernina that I bought new back in the 70's. Then I have my moms old Singer 400 from the 50's that I learned to sew on. I have a little Featherweight with a button hole maker that I use mainly for that, and an Evolve serger.

I prefer my Bernina and the old Singer for most use, rather than the serger. I ended up not loving the serger as much as I had hoped I would. It would be a fine machine for someone who was doing things in production mode. Sure, it can do this and it can do that. But, the problem is that it is so time consuming and labor intensive to change out the mode with each step of construction on any one project. It requires me to rethink and rearrange the order of construction from the old school way that I have been doing for over almost 60 years. I use the overlock function the most.

I also don't like that it is designed to work best for edge construction and not middle of the project details since it has a narrow bed on it. Running a cover stitch down a pants seam is not without difficulty.

The Singer 400 is a great old machine. It has a solid metal head and it has a worm gear that makes it powerful. A worm gear employs the amazing power of the screw.

Currently 3, though only 2 are working. One is my basic, almost-30-year-old Viking-Husqvarna 610. It's been a workhorse and has only gone into the shop once for anything other than basic maintenance. The other is my BabyLock serger, inherited from my late aunt.

The non-working one is an orphan, an Omn-Stitch 1000 embroidery machine that I've oiled and tried to get running, but I think it's just stuck too badly from lack of use. Our 2 local repair places don't want to touch it because of the lack of parts for it. It's currently in a 60 year old cherry wood cabinet with the swing-down pins, so I'm keeping my eye out for a good working older machine that can take its place. Wish I'd kept my old Necchi instead of trading it in 30 years ago.

Let's see. I have a Baby Lock Crown Jewel Longarm, a Janome Horizon is my most used for piecing, a Kenmore made by Janome is a backup machine, a Singer 301 that my friend Grammyp got for me that I hope to use for a retreat machine, a Brother embroidery machine, a serger, a Singer 201 that needs a serious case repair, and I think a couple more in the basement in storage. So at least 7...

It's good to have to take inventory once in awhile. I use a Baby Lock Quilters Choice Pro for quilting, my aunt's old Kenmore on the table for all my piecing or mending (you can't beat those all-steel workhorses), two Featherweights I restored, Hubby's Grandmother's small portable Elna, an inherited old Singer in a cabinet I haven't tried to use and a portable I just bought cheap in a thrift store to clean up and give to the next person I run across that needs one. I hope someday to pass on the extras but am waiting for candidates to step up. I may give daughter one of the Featherweights as she seems to be going to classes now.
