When we moved into our home the banister/railings were that horrible orangey honey oak. I hated it so much I spent the time and effort sanding and staining them dark.

I love the dramatic look of the darker banister, but now we want to redo our floors in hardwood and I don’t know if I should match the colour or if I can go lighter to contrast them? I obviously didn’t think this one through, and I’m not sure I want really dark floors.
