What are the approximate dimensions of the laundry chute? Was the chute opening exposed during the renovation?

There has been discussion in the past about the value of having HVAC ducts cleaned. Most companies give a low price quote and do poor job. In many cases duct cleaning is unnecessary.

It is interesting that this company has the expertise and tools to clean HVAC ducts but they can't clean a laundry chute. Maybe you need to find a better duct cleaning company.

Thanks, and your point is taken regarding finding a better company! (Has anyone else here used Mr. Duct?) In regard to your first comment, we just finished a year-long gut rehab (the entire house taken down to the studs), deconverting a two-flat to a SFH. The ductwork is all new; however, it has all been exposed to construction since being put in approximately 5-6 months ago, so I would feel much better about our family of five moving in once all(ish) of the construction dust/debris has been sucked out. I would estimate the chute to be approximately 8" x 12".

8" X 12" ? No Sheets/ blankets, towels, etc?

Ha, I'm not the best at estimation; I'm sure it's bigger than that (maybe 12 x 16??), just can't find a pic (and kicked out of the house until the floors cure!)

Of course, but my concern is not with the clothing, but with dust and debris getting kicked up into the air (ducts were not sealed at all during construction). Anyway, will tie a bag around the bottom and throw some wet towels down a few times and see how things look!
