Gray- Light Gray Engineered wood floors? Experience or Direction?

Hoping to begin our build shortly and thought we had our LVP floors selected, using the same floor throughout our little 1900 sq' river cottage. My SO REALLY likes the idea of being able to mop LVP, and currently has them in her home and loves them.

I'm still a little skeptical, and want to explore all the options. I certainly don't want to have regrets on a whole house selection.

We're going for beach like, key west feel, which leads us to a lighter color floor (at least that's her opinion and I'm unlikely to change it.)

I've only briefly investigated Engineered wood, but the few stores I've been in have had almost zero selection of grayer lighter distressed looking finishes. Stumbled on a few online, but nothing that I can witness locally.

Anyone here happen to install something that might fill the void? Of course, the LVP is $3-4.50 per sq', and I know the EW will be more, but hoping to control the excess. Twice the price won't be an option.

The Torlys link will be spectacular...and they will NOT be as low as $3/sf. Torlys is a premium cork brand that has branched out into vinyl, etc. They don't make anything 'budget friendly'. But then again everything they do is FANTASTIC...so no wonder the vinyl floor doesn't feel like vinyl It's from Torlys.

A LOW END engineered hardwood is $5/sf. And the amount of head ache that goes with it will be horrible. I would stick with laminate or vinyl in that price range. And for a good laminate you will want to look at the higher priced products = $7/sf. A low-range vinyl can be found for $3-$4/sf.

I personally prefer a HIGH END laminate for $4.50/sf instead of a low-midrange vinyl for $4.50/sf.

A designer friend of mine recently installed LVP flooring in her Muskoka cottage and it looks and feels like real wood! It's absolutely gorgeous and there are a lot of colours available in those nice gray tones. Do some research about the manufacturing differences, installation techniques and long term care. I know that if you do get a scratch you'll need a marker if the colour isn't all the way through the material. Are you in the GTA area? I can recommend a few stores. I have installed LVP flooring on a number of jobs over the last several years. It is a very pratical, easy care surface that many clients opt for because they want the look of wood in high traffic areas but not the upkeep. What I have not installed is any floor that is grey, especially wood-alike product. The reason? Although you can repaint grey walls when the grey trend is over as it now is, grey wood flooring will always be linked to the 2010s, just like pickled oak is inextricably linked with the 80s. In short, by all means go with a light-coloured floor, but don't do a grey one. Do a colour that is associated with wood. It will always look right.

The grey floor trend is already a dated look. Take a look at sand toned white oak options instead, if you're going for a beach look. Also, you can definitely mop wood floors using a Bona wood floor mop.

Gray for a whole house? Abandon that idea and your selection will widen by double or triple.Gray is already being DROPPED from many lines. A fad floor..

I have this floor in my current home. Engineered, matte finish, white oak 7-inch plank. Mohawk artiquity line. I love them. And what really matters is what you like not what's trend or not trend. I am building another home and will be putting in same.

I like the grey floors and believe its a personal choice. We just did our first floor of our home in Shaw Antica HD PLUS vinyl and its very nice. It has a rustic beachy vibe.
