I’m not going to weigh in on color of sofa...that will depend on what other pieces of furniture you already have, rugs, etc...but I am going to try to talk you out of getting a sectional. Sectionals are actually very limiting....grown up adults don’t enjoy sitting smack up against each other .... they prefer sitting two to a sofa and the rest in a chair....also, the traditional sofa + 2-3 side chairs allows you to move them around for optimal flexibility....folks can actually talk to each other....

I disagree about sectionals. Lots of people like them and they work for their family/life. Most people don't have room for 2 sofas and 2-3 chairs.
