Agree on the yellow overdose. Do you want to keep this as a dining room even though you don’t need a dining room? Could the space serve your family better with a new identity?

I assume you want to keep this as a dining room. Your round table looks too small for your chairs. And it’s the wrong shape for your rectangular room. Replace with a rectangle table. Add a sideboard to the far end of the room with 2 lamps and a large piece of art. I find the mustard walls and ceiling clash with your carpet. I would go with cream on the walls (a little darker than your wainscotting) and because your tray ceiling looks a little dated, I would paint it white so not to draw attention to it. Let the colour be in your artwork and any decor items.

I meant dining room

I guess I am the only one that likes the colors in your dining room. Are you able to change carpet? A cream color?

Questions

1. You want it to be a dining room or repurpose the space as a living area?

2. Is the gold color a predominant color in your home? I assume e the photo is taken from the entry and it looks like the ceiling color in the dining room is the wall color in the entry?

3. Is the carpet staying?

4. Is the chandelier staying?

5. What other colors do you carry through your home that can be used in this room.

The only thing I can say before you answer the above questions is The gold is bringing down the look of the entire room. Regardless of what the space is used for the color needs to be modified/changed.

Some inspiration

If you have another dining area and don’t use this dining room, what do you want it to be? A family room? A dining room for guests? Would it make a better living room than the current living room? We need more information than you have given us.
