Do you know what the flowers look like? Can you show us a plant in situ?

Sorry, a friend had these in a bucket that she got from some one else. Don't know the color.

In Georgia , USA.

...although the runners make me doubt my initial ID. I wonder if it is Iris japonica. I hope someone else can pick their way through Iris ID. i get confused.

There are a good many species and hybrids that do not produce recognizable rhizomes but more fleshy masses of roots like a daylily. And a number of these will produce a purplish coloring at the base, especially in early spring. Hard to tell from just a few leaves as to what it may be.

A section of rootstock is visible in the original post. Flowers will be needed to tell what kind the plant is.

I will plant it and see what happens with it. Will repost then
