Has anyone bought a couch from Maidenhome?

Please let me know if you have bought a couch from Maidenhome. I am considering purchasing one but I am worried since you can't see it before you buy it. Is the quality good? Are you happy with your purchase? Is the couch comfortable? Thanks!

Comfort is a personal thing and IMO you never buy chairs or sofas without sitting in them. I have no idea about this company . Is there some reason you can’t go shopping for furniture? Every company tells you how great they are so without real experience who knows .

    Thank you!

have a couple maiden home pieces and could not be more pleased. Love supporting their story and they are the real deal! I feel like we got furniture that would cost a multiple of what we paid at some designer showroom!

I hope everyone understands that Maiden Home is a retailer, not a manufacturer. So they will markup the manufacturers price as with any retailer verses purchasing directly from the manufacturer.

I am also looking at Maiden Home — which sofa are you thinking of? I am looking at the Carmine or Warren. It’s the only company I haven’t seen horrific issues being mentioned but then again some reviewers seem concerned that opinions are biased. Please let me know what you find out? Love your surname ❤️

@Stephanie Koutsodendris This looks absolutely lovely! I have chosen The Warren from Maiden Home but just in the process of picking a fabric. I would like lighter, like yours, but I'm nervous. Which fabric do you go with? TIA!

Hi! I went with the performance linen oyster color. I am really happy with it and how the color turned out. I ordered the sample and tested it before too and it held up well in stain tests.

alleda, If it's any more help, there's some info on a Maiden Home sofa in this link. Though a different style sofa, it looks like the blogger in the link also got the oyster color and performance linen Stephanie mentioned.

    Thank you so much!

I like her blue chairs with the sofa, too. That whole lake house is so pretty!

Stephanie, can you talk about the back cushions on the Warren? The Maiden Home website doesn’t mention what the fill is. Is it loose polyfill, a down blend, or Dacron wrap around foam? Do they hold their shape well? And are the seat cushions supportive but soft? Thanks!!

    Hi Stephanie,

Looks great. Thank you for posting. Could you tell me the size? Is it the 105"x105" or 98"x98? Thank you.

@JK thanks, I ordered the Jasper Leather ottoman from Interior Define I should get that in September. I also got two Jason Wu chairs from there in Sapphire Velvet. Still on the hunt for side tables. 🙂

Can anyone comment on the Downing Chairs from Maiden Home?

Curious about the durability of the Maidenhome sofa’s seat cushions and back cushions. Are they still firm and have they held their shape after a year or more of use?

So many of the sofas available now arrive looking great and within a year have lumpy backs and permanently dented seats.

What do I look for to avoid this problem? Maidenhome has 8way hand tied sofas. Will that solve the issue? What do you look for?

I loved my old Hancock and Moore and am looking for that type of comfort in a more modern and sleek sofa like the Maidenhome Varick.

I ordered a Varrick from Maiden Home and I'm thoroughly disappointed with customer service and logistics. How is it possible that a couch takes 5 weeks from the date of completion to get to me? Unreal... then when I call customer service they all give me the same canned political response. I need answers, Not the white glove service reply that I could care less about. I just need to know where my couch is....

And how is it that they wont disclose who is the maker of their couches in North Carolina??? Does anyone else find that strange?

@Melissa Rodriguez Maiden Home's shipping partners and logistics are a disaster. My couch sat in Houston waiting to be delivered for almost 8 weeks. And I was given only one day as an option for delivery. I imagine if I was not available on that one day it may have taken another 4-8 weeks. Maiden Home's customer service was pleasant but ineffective in being able to do anything to assist with the delivery scheduling. I was planning to order several items from MH, but decided to just order a small Jones as a test run on quality and service, and now am not rushing to order anything more based on the experience. It is unfortunate that the "final mile" is such a disappointment since that is essentially the last interaction and what you will remember more than anything. Yes, it is a pandemic and there have be all kinds of delays with everything, but 8 weeks to travel 350 miles makes no sense.

I bought the Varick. Be warned it looks and sits like true vintage size/ even children’s furniture. I contacted customer service about the size and problems with the cushions sinking. While they responded promptly, their resolution was an insulting lesson on fluffing pillows. It wasn’t until I threatened to write a negative review that they offered a return for exchange option…. I too waited forever for the sofa and it fits our space well enough, so I decided to just keep it rather that wait another 6-8 weeks for another one of their sofa options. Too bad. Next time, I’ll buy in person.

On the bright side, their performance velvet fabric is lush and easy to maintain.

i find the varick very comfortable and its held up well for clients - its a nice contmeporary look / i feel like if i sit at the very edge of any sofa and lean over i could touch the ground - dimensions all very normal to me. certainly wouldnt call it child sized lol!!!

@Melissa Rodriguez 5 weeks from NC to the west is pretty normal. i have a sofa from arhaus going to a bay area client thats also made somewhere in NC and its taking 6 weeks to get to local DC and then that dc is only giving dates 3 weeks out. i mean better than ordering from china but frustrated since they told me id have the sofa in 6-8 weeks (which i said at the time seems to good to be true!) in the house and its going to be at least 13! client is ok waiitng and we wanted custom and not a cheap quick ship piece but very frustrating nonetheless!

The Varick is comfortable, the fabric is nice and wait time was accurate but… buyer be warned, especially if other furniture doesn’t lean more vintage in scale. The “childlike” size can accurately be compared to sofas found in an antique store. Like I said, I was diligent in measuring, have other mcm pieces and was still taken aback by the short scale and how much lower it sits, especially when the pillows and cushions quickly lose that initial firmness. Posters should feel free to voice honest opinions; no need to be smug or rude…

For reference our sofa is 100 inches deep. Pic one shows the feature back height is 2 feet x 6 inches deep, pic two tries to show the difference against a standard 36 inch high chair and pic three shows the max height before sitting in soft cushions that one sinks into whether on the edge or not. Again, as long as you’re aware the advertised height of 30.5 is measured from the top of “fully fluffed” pillows and the seat height of 17 comes from the highest point of the cushions “when new”, the smaller scaled sofa definitely makes a vintage mcm statement.

I am just so obsessed with this look and all the products in it. Would love to know if anyone here has comments on any of the pieces in the photo - most of of what I've read is very positive in terms of the quality but new to the brand and would love any specific feedback on these pieces/fabrics before taking the plunge. My good friend owns a large Jones sectional in Oyster Linen and its very comfortable gorgeous but thats my only in person exposure to the brand. They have a pop up show house in NYC/TriBeCa in August which I'm hoping to attend but kind of don't wait till then to place my order and besides not even sure what products will be on display there!

Any thoughts on Perry Chairs in Nubuck, Muir Sectional Sofa, Morro Large Table and Mott Stool in Shearling. TIA!

@EastEnder Gal the morro tables and mott stool in shearling are great pieces in my exeprience. have only seen a swatch of their nubuck leather and it looks gorgoeus but havent seen it on furnitre yet. good luck!

Finally - been hoping for a chance to sit before buying (for those around NYC at least)

I was really excited about my sofa from here, but like so many others received a mid-order email extending the delivery timeline with a not so plausible excuse. They seem to just be racking up orders they have no intention of delivering on time. They take payment upfront and are a startup, so not sure about ordering here in the future in case they go bankrupt.

Hi Stephanie (and/or others who have purchased the maiden home Varick in performance linen):

How has the fabric held up over time? Have you been able to clean up spills?
I’m considering buying now and appreciate your help!!

Hi Emily! I purchased the Warren back in 2020 in the oyster performance linen and I have been very happy with it. I have spilled things on it many times (spilled Diet Coke on it a few days ago actually) and was freaking out because it is white but was able to wipe it away with a paper towel no problem and no stain. The fabric shows no signs of wear and the past several years I sat on this couch all day while working from home. So it is very durable and continues to be soft. I regular take naps on it. Hope this helps! When I bought it was a risk since I couldn’t find anyone else that had purchased it but I don’t regret it for a second.

I purchased a bruer sectional after seeing it in store for our loft. absolutely stunning in the showroom and in our home. design and construction is excellent and customer service was excellent. in a sea of bad furniture experiences in our remoodel, maiden was an absolute delight

we personally had the worst experience with maiden home. the quality is terrible and our couch is unusable because the cushions completely sunk in
