Woodworking Design Dilemma

Help deciding how to finish red oak box ceiling beams

We are finally taking down some very dark box beams in our living room and replacing them with new box beams. My husband bought red oak boards for this project. Our home style is modern/mid century modern. How do I finish these red oak boards for beams to fit into our home? Our floors are hardwood, honey oak. Advice wanted!

Hi - do you have any pictures to share of the finished product? We're wrapping our old beams with red oak and I'm struggling on how to stain them. Thanks!
