You can go any which way for paint color, so hard for any of us to guess (we tend to lean more neutral anyway). However, I'd think twice about drawing any attention to the bay window area with those strange white columns there! Honestly, nothing about this house calls for stone -- just seems like a misunderstanding about its natural style.

What about a color block idea--not too much--but like this: a couple charcoal sections and maybe a dark mustard for the rest. Here are some of those combos:

Honestly, just go to your nearest Benjamin Moore store and ask them for one of their brochures that show exterior color combinations. I tend to favor the colors from the Historic palette for exteriors--they're historic (and timeless!) for a reason.

FWIW, that is decidedly turquoise, not sea foam, which tends to be more green and less blue than what you have.

I don't personally care for putting brick or stone on just the front. I know a lot of people do it and like it-I just feel like the whole house is important, not just the front, and it looks unfinished. When we sided our house many years ago, we did a tan (I guess you'd call it?) w/a dark brown/bronze-y color for the trim etc, and it fades into the background, and the landscaping is able to be center of attention. I do like the above pictures w/the gray and mustard quite a bit.

Just to clarify, is the roof gray/charcoal or more blue?

Growing up in the 1970s, our house was blue with blue trim. God knows what the names were for those blues. It became a landmark. People used it to navigate by: "just turn at the blue house" or "go to the blue house, turn left and we are 4 houses up the street".

Trust me, any OTHER color will be fine. Really.

For years after it was painted WHITE/blue trim, people actually spoke nostalgically about the old blue color.

Your home color needs to work with the roof. I would paint it white, light taupe, light sage, or olive green. Keep the colors natural so it looks like it belongs in the landscape. Blue is just as bad as the current color. Instead of adding stone to the house, add some interesting landscaping.

I would do a nice Grayed/ green but not tan trim I would also be careful about stone addition.I would also look at a bit wider trim around the windows and maybe a wood garage door and a front door that actually suits the style of the house If you want some stone I would maybe look at this combo

Agree with no stone. It doesn't suit the style of your home. The very first thing I'd do would be to replace the front door with a style that suits your home and get rid of the two white columns on either side of your front window. Since you already have white trim on your windows, I would only choose one other color for the body of the house.

As Beth suggested, looking at brochures with paint color combinations is a good way to get some ideas. Another great way to get good ideas is taking a Sunday drive. Go out with your husband and look at the homes in your area. What colors make your heart sing. Most colors will go nicely with a charcoal gray roof, so that shouldn't limit your selection.

Keep in mind that not all colors are safe to paint on vinyl.

This is a bigger house than yours, but the gray hip roof and bay windows hint at what you might do. You don't need shutters but you could use a new door (not like your Victorian style one) and pop it with red or orange..

Whichever color you choose, paint those columns the same color as the house. They stand out way too much, when they are white. Painting them a color will blend them right into the bay of the window. I dont mind the color it is, right now, if the columns were same color and the landscaping was done nicely.

Please don’t do any of those things with stone. Because stone is a “heavy” material, it belongs on the bottom of a home, not wrapped around a bay window. And only putting brick or stone 1/3 of the way up the front of a home makes it look like you ran out of money for the other 3 sides. When adding to the front, you must add all the way around.

Personally, I’d just paint it, plus get a new garage door and front door that is NOT Victorian in style. When painting the house, be sure to paint the white corners on your bay window the same color as the siding. The current contrast is very distracting.

I have a color scheme similar to the sage green house with cream trim shared above. It really is a great color combination. But if you want instant ideas, picking up a BM and SW brochure is the way to go.

I did not get about posts. Are they part of bay window or support for overhanging.

I suggest that you look through the approved color combinations for homes near your area and see if there are any combinations the two of you can agree on. Once you find something you like, you can drive to the neighborhood and look around to see if you can find one or more homes built in that color combination. That way, you get to see it in person in Northwest lighting conditions. There’s a big difference in the way colors look in different parts of the USA.

That’s a big expense to replace everything and/or to paint everything. I’d start out by painting your just garage door white and that’s it. It’ll tone down the entire house.

We are definitely not going to do any stone now and I never thought about the white boards around the bay window being so ugly. We will paint those same as the rest of the house.

The roof is grey/charcoal color. The lighting made it look blue.

It takes different pairs of eyes I guess.

it’s hard to get a good picture with it grey and raining this week. and I’ve just now had time to check this thread because I’ve been so busy at work.

im really leaning towards this and my husband is pretty much set on a dark blue.

I really the wood shutters. We want to keep the trim white since our windows are white.

what about adding an accent color? Would you put it above the garage or above the bay window on the 2nd story? Or that skinny vertical window in the middle?

I love the color of my house, which is similar to what you have now. However, it suits the style of my house (which I call, for want of a better name, "mid-1980s faux-Victorian cottage") much more than it does the style of yours. For your house, I like the colors you're considering.
