I don't know but I would spray the tree with an insecticidal oil. I use dish soap and Old olive oil. 1 table spoon olive oil and 1/5 teaspoon soap to a quart of water.

I use spinosad for thrips and dr. Bronners soap for everything else, combined with an agricultural surfactant. Thrips unfortunately are notorious in greenhouse environments.

Not sure, I'd say just physical damage that didn't heal perfectly. Yes, it is tempting to remove the affected area if you can spare it. If you have enough remaining canopy. I have had a few similar damaged branches and ended up leaving them without apparent negative effect (pest, disease)

What rate do you use for castile soap? I have run out of insecticidal soap.

dr bronners has specific instructions on their bottle of soap. I cannot recall from memory alone. I want to say tablespoon per 2 gallons of water.

thanks for the reply. I ended up trimming off the affected areas. i gave it a good prune, and shaped it the way I wanted.. hopefully it will recover. My key lime loved the prune I gave it. Key lime on its own roots is my most vigorous grower by far...
