The Lowes and HD Patio PIckers growing box is essentially the same thing as an Earth box but much cheaper.

And if you're interested in DIY, you can even make similar ones even cheaper also.

They work fine, but depending on which version you buy and then the soil to go into it, they can be costly. But every year, you'll rebuy the fertilizer packs that can be used again for the next season, so keep that cost in mind also. However, if you're resourceful, you can mix and match similar fertilizers of your own rather than buy what Earthbox provides. There are many instructional YT videos about how to refresh your potting mix for subsequent seasons after the first one or two years that you used them.

I like them - I use 3 Earthboxes linked with 3 Texas tomato cages on my deck to grow cherry tomatoes. I have the autowatering system Earthbox sells. I like that it's practically zero maintenance once the plants are growing, and I can manage a LOT of plant foliage for 3-4 months within a small footprint.

That said, I wouldn't use Earthboxes for other veggies - too expensive for my budget.
