bump out bath tub

I have been working on an in-law unit for myself for the past year. Love what I have at the moment, but a problem has come up. I have a typical small bathroom, and was given a very nice five foot antique bathtub. Something I have always wanted. The bathroom now only has a shower. . .I am old enough to worry about being able to get in and out of a tub. . But, i have sat in this tub, and realize it has a nice lip all the way around. Something to hold in the effort of getting out of the tub. . GREAT. It works wonderfully. . . So now I am trying to figure out where to put it. The bathroom is on the outside wall on the back end of the unit, so am thinking about a bump out just large enough to sit the tub outside the bathroom, and then put a skylight over it so I can sit in it and enjoy the stars, rain or sunny day. . . I also have a five foot double pane window that was designed to look like an antique I thought I would put at the foot of the tub. . . I guess my question is what do you think, and will I have to get a permit from the county for that kind of addition?
