There are some sources, but it may be too late to order and get what you want. I've gotten the impression that many online independents are real swamped right now with people panicking about growing their own food because of the pandemic.

if you aren't too fussy about the exact variety, you can just go to a local market and buy potatoes.. usually i just buy organic sacks of potatoes (red, gold, etc.) from Walmart. the last few bags i bought already had eyes growing, so they sprouted quickly.

maybe also check their garden section for Asparagus. saw some at Lowes if you have one nearby. they also have potato seeds, but they're expensive than buying the sacks i mentioned above, and they're not even organic. think i paid around $4-something for a 3lb organic bag of potatoes, and i got 5-6 times more potatoes.

They have several potato varieties and other asparagus, too. I know others from GW have ordered and been happy with their products. Prices are good. Shipping depends on where you are and could be more than you like.

I have seen reasonable selections at some Menards and other big box stores. Local farm supply and feed stores are also good to check.

I do not think any of these places will have organic, though. But if you grow them organically you will still be harvesting wonderful produce that is very close to organic. I have seen bags of organic seed potatoes at a couple local specialty nurseries. Some looked great, some did not. But that is true of their non-organic ones, too. Look them over and decide which ones are best if you can find them locally.

I second Debruyn seeds for the lowest prices on asparagus and good prices on potatoes. They only offer Jersey Knight and Purple Passion asparagus. I have both but prefer the taste of Purple Passion. Their crowns are 2 year olds.

Thanks for the recommendations. We are looking for the most traditional varieties. We grow an organic 2000 sq ft garden for donation to local food pantries and basic crops are most desired.

With that info, go with the Jersey Knight rather than the Purple Passion. Either variety will need at least a year to establish and then will produce for years and years. You don't want to find out that specialty purple asparagus is not well received by the clients after committing to it long term.
