DH is working away at a jigsaw. That should keep him occupied for several days. I have discovered jigsaws on my ipad and I am spending too much time on that app.

Nice! I just hand pieced a rail fence border for my Civil War anniversary quilt.

I do jigsaw puzzles on my iPad, but it would be nice to have a real one to work on. Except the cats would probably want to "help".

Backs and leftover blocks can be a problem but you have solved it nicely.

Thank you, everyone. Yes, Sharon, I have plenty of strings for another quilt. The friend who gave me all the scraps from her friend, is now gathering up her scraps for me. She is in her late 80's and developing some health issues and her daughters are encouraging her to start clearing all the fabric out.

How did you make this a "controlled" scrappy quilt?

The center strip in each block is a neutral, generally white or cream, but I also used light yellow. Then the two strips on the side of the neutral coordinate or complement each other. That's hard to tell from such a small picture.
