how to tell if your soil is compacted

Hi! I have two 3x6x1 raised garden beds in a nice sunny spot in my backyard in Austin, TX. We filled them with a raised bed mix from a local landscape supplier. I've got a variety of flower seedlings just coming up and some veggies growing and everything is doing pretty well so far. We had a pretty heavy rain this past week, which didn't result in standing water in the beds but now the soil seems compacted to me. This is my first year with raised beds and i've mostly done container gardening up til now so I'm wondering if all the rain could have compacted the soil and could be making it hard for the seedling roots to do their thing. I dug up the dirt around the veggies but don't want to disturb the soil in the flower bed because there are still seeds that haven't sprouted.
