Kitchen addition

Hi! I just bought a home and I am looking over photos. There isn't a ton of storage in the kitchen or a pantry or a place for the microwave so I'm trying to get creative. I was thinking of adding a wine bar and hidden microwave cabinet. Any ideas? The last photo is what I made on photoshop for an idea. Is the bench, the blue, and tiling too much? I figured I could put a narrow table with chairs on the other side of the bench.

Would stop the blue at the bottom of the overhead cabinets -- would not put it above the window above the sink. Put a white open shelf above that window and use the shelf as your stopping point.

    fun kitchen!

is there storage in the island? A carpenter would be able to do surgery on the island for more storage.

The dining bench is a great idea- I don’t think you need more blue tile though.

Beth, where are you? I think something like your coffee bar in your house would work for her, maybe next to that dining area window?

Take some measurements and see if it is practical to make the island an "L" shape -- the longest countertop being as wide as your larger window around which you have painted blue. Put painters tape on the floor and see how much room you'll have around it.

Not a designer- I like the backsplash for a fun punch of color, but for me the blue on the island is too much-it just draws my eye. For me, instead of thinking “beautiful kitchen”, I’m thinking, “Wow, that’s a blue island”. Anxious to hear advice from professionals! Good luck!

I don't know if there is an alternate space for a table, but IMO that back wall was not configured correctly

I commented on your other post w/the FP

while I love the blue kitchen, I have to agree about the island. it's a bit much (and I really really like blue)

I love the idea of the bench and was going to suggest the same. (float it so it doesn't cover the vent)

I really don't like stoves in islands like that (too far from the sink) so ultimately I'd see about moving it to where the fridge is, move the fridge to the panty, and extend the wall or something for a new pantry.

whoever flipped that house didn't cook!

looks like you have some good ideas. go with it

I never feel comfortable making suggestions from listing photos...a floor plan gives a clearer picture of space that is available...but it is obvious that you need more cabinets much more than a big window seat..also a wine bar is more convenient in the entertainment area where wine will be served...as to the stove location it remains to be seen from the floor plan...how much distance there is between the sink wall and the island...i wouldn’t be so quick to move the stove as that is a pretty big move and you already have limited counter-space on either wall
