I think you are absolutely on the right track in using that area as another seating area... I would get a rug and then move the grouping onto the rug... perhaps 4 chairs vs 2 chairs and maybe add a bar cart on a wall and make it a socializing entertainment area...

Agree with the above suggestion. Alternatively, you could put a game table there with four upholstered chairs. You could still have a bar cart or wine station, etc.

it seems to me like there will be plenty of room for traffic pattern..
maybe put the arrangement a little to the left and so there will be room to the right to go around... you dont need an exact straight path thru. can u test it out and see what it looks like when you move the 2 chairs and table to the right
