unless you have any army of kids, the 24 inch machines are pretty good for most people. Somehow the rest of the world uses them and not 27 or 30 inch. Those are only for the US market

my bad - missed the top loader question at the end . Probably not many options in that width. Looking at the US Appliance website, the only listed 24/26 inch units are Speed Queen. Some people love them, some hate them. Wouldn't be my first choice in this day and age. I would probably reconfigure the space for a front loader pair
