Suggestion for Hibiscus

nydepot

I have a Hibiscus rosa-sinensis ‘Quasar’. It was mail-ordered last year. It has grown some since then and seems in fine health.

My issue is it is a 24" stick right now. It's covered in large leaves from soil to top with new growth coming on. I guess I'd like to find a way of getting a new shape to it. I realize I could pinch off the growing top, but will that cause new branches? I'm not interested in a series of new branches coming out at the top. I'd like something further down to start giving it a non-stick shape.

Any suggestions? Thanks.
