You need to verify the 64" -- is it outside to outside, and consider the trim inside and out.

You don’t want a door with zero trim, presumably. Stick with a single side light. Or none. Pick projects that have better payback for the expense to focus your quarantine dreams on.

Your going to need to have room for the proper framing, to fit the door frame and as mentioned above trim. As also mentioned above unless you can provide an awful lot more info we cannot offer much more for advice than for the prospective installer to look at you situation.

The door I picked says Fits Rough Opening of 64-1/4 in. x 82-1/8 in. and you're totally right, I don't want a door without trim, but honestly I would be willing to go as far as getting a custom door made for this. is that a possibility?

Settle for what is functional, and a standard size. That actually fits and looks proportionate. There are no circumstances that a 10K door assembly with a 2” strip of glass to either side looks at all good.

i suppose it is probably better and makes more sense to get just one sidelight instead. just always loved the look, but maybe not for this house! :)
