The shrubs are poorly placed and will get too large. Note the trees Yardvark shows that "shelter" the exposed house.

Landscaping for sure. I like Yardvaark's ideas. The entry stoop is a good idea but needs to be further developed. The shutters are a nice touch but I'd definitely make them operable and appropriately sized for the windows. Would add gutters and downspouts also.

Alex, I don't think I would recommend a full porch across the width of the house. That would obscure the two windows and would reduce the amount of light entering those rooms. The entry porch I have in mind would be small but it should relieve some of the flatness of your facade. See accompanying photo (as an example only).

That porch/landing/deck is probably not up to code without railings.

Shocking to think about!" Shocking and exhilarating! One summer, I was helping oldest son paint house. While focusing on spraying and not looking, I accidentally backed off of a 7' scaffold. Oops! Amazing how quickly we have to make some decisions. I landed on a ground level deck that was fortunately there. It took every degree of knee-bending I had to absorb the fall. We added safety bars to the scaffold after that.

Depending on budget you have a ton of options. I'm going with the least expensive (probably) which would be to add a white railing around the porch, add shutters first floor windows and door (full length), flower boxes on each window, very classy mailbox and house numbers (nothing cheap -has to really look quality), attach a flag pole to the home which you can change the flag out seasonally (I do this and love it), two planters one on each side of door -if budget for walkway would be great, lights on both side of door -and not sure if the color is something you want to change of the home but could paint a different color

If that is your main/only outdoor sitting area then you will probably either have to install a replacement elsewhere on the property or enhance the existing one so that it has enough room and shelter to meet all of your possible requirements. Including space for entertaining and a source of shade for use during hot weather. Clear walls around the edges for blocking cold winds or fencing to prevent falling or jumping might also be desirable enhancements.
