Need ideas for starting my backyard landscaping( on a lower budget)

My husband does concrete work etc . So I'm planning on havin a stamped concrete etc patio . And landscaping. But I need ideas for hiding hat awful blue door that goes into our basement. It's so ugly .. Any suggestions??

Even if you put shrubs on each side, I think it could benefit from a little cosmetic work, so it looks like a NICE door into the basement. If you husband does concrete work, could he pour nice smooth sloping pieces on each side, and a neater first step from the yard? You could paint it, or use some siding on it with attractive handles. That way, even if you do see it, it looks tidier. Boxwoods on each side would be easy to trim to disguise, yet not get in the way of your access. Alternatively, you could do two short, (3' tall) decorative fence pieces on each side, and hang deck-rail planters to dress it up a bit.

That's a good idea... I'm looking also to hide it more completely .... But green would def help!

I also think a Med size hedge on each side would hide it well. I like the idea of painting it and putting decorative handles on it. Boxwood, Yew or even upright Japanese Holly would be nice narrow plants to put along it.

Afternoon and eve is full sun... That back large window is he dining room ... So I was sorta concerned about the view out of there too if we did something around it. My husband is planning on re concreting everything also, I'm just getting ideas together for next year when we most likely re landscape everything( we just moved in not too long ago)

In that case, dress it up in case people look down! Depending on how else things lay out, you could plant a tree farther out in the yard centered on the DR window to make a focal point. No one will ever even notice the basement access!

Maybe a new door would look better. Then add a few low plants to hide sides.

Since you get a good amount of sun you can plant a garden. And also fragrant bushes like Miss Kim lilac and gardenias. Also would be nice if you made a shade structure.
