odd question because i know the goal of most people is to get rid of weeds. in my case however, there are some spots of the yard that are very high traffic either with foot traffic or even wheelbarrows and tractors. these spots require compact but bare soil with no mulch to enable tools to be moved across. however, i wouldnt mind having some vegetation in these spots if they could actually survive in such heavily trafficked areas. on top of this, i have a few free ranging chickens and it would be great for them to have another area they can forage off of.

from my research, it appears that clover may be the way to go. it apparently does well in compacted soil areas and the chickens love them. purslane seems to be another good choice

i dont really care how invasive it is. the hardier and more invasive, the better. im thinking also crab grass and bermuda might be good too
