Having a Mom old enough to see a lot of trends come and go, it is interesting to hear real life experiences. One that pops up forever is the claw foot tub or free standing tub. Having to keep the underside and sides of these tubs is exhausting. The underbelly of a real claw foot tub when damp picks up dust which dries to a film. Even if you are not cleaning it personally it is a bit uncomfortable to have to clean. A free standing tub you have to be able to get to the back of it to clean. Open and airy sure you will love it when you are crawling around getting streaks of grime out. Fact of life dust and lint is floating around combined with moisture and steam not a fun combo. Against my better judgement I put in a wonderful vanity with 14 inch legs. Looks stunning but so NOT fun, to clean under there. Dust happens even with two major exhaust fans. Just keep in mind how these items are cleaned. If you have someone cleaning, you really want someone spending that much time cleaning the bathroom? Is it really being cleaned back there? Vacuuming doesn't get it, it sets with the moisture. You need to wash it down with damp sponge. Just being practical think of me with my fabulous bathroom. Without a cleaning service lying on my stomach wiping down my floors beneath the sinks every week. My Master bath is on the other side of the house far from any entrance. It is vacuumed often. I live alone. Just my two cents.....

you still could - you would have 6 panels in all - three on your side and three on your husband's - assuming it's roughly the same distance on both sides. Figure out your lighting first, then the mirrors. Once you know where the lights will go, the mirrors will fall into place. You definitely want side lights in this space. Using only downlights would be really awkward in this layout. You will need a mirror and light by your vanity, but you'll also want a mirror and light by your sink. I would do 3 mirrors total. One over your vanity and one over the sink and one over your DH's sink. Then do 3 side lights on your side - two on the outside and one in-between the mirrors. Two side lights on DH's side - one on either side of his mirror. You might want to swap your vanity drawer with the drawer bank. It's hard to tell but I think the symmetry would be better.

Make the mirrors somewhat to scale with the different size light fixtures. The one with 5 lights should be wider than the one with 3 lights. The mirror should at least be as wide as the entire fixture above it. Maybe if they have the same amount of space around them on the wall it would look cohesive. Possibly 4 inches of wall on either side of the mirror would work. Cut out large pieces of paper in the sizes of the mirrors you think you want & tape them to the wall. That should give you an idea of what will look right. Will your mirrors have frames around them or are you using unframed mirrors?
