I like sagey greens, very light. Personally I think we need to see the bedding you will be using before choosing paint colors

Thanks. A dull green definitely seems like a good option. I haven't decided on a bedding yet. I was hoping to match that with the paint color.

When we were first married, about they only piece of furniture we spent good money on was a Pennsylvania House cherry bedroom set. We painted the walls a very light blue and used white bedding and curtains. Received a pretty cornflower blue vase as a gift and used that as inspiration for decor. It was a pretty room. Always looked fresh and inviting. Come to think of it, we used that same color combo for our daughter’s room when she took over the set. We still have the furniture.

Thanks for the tip, jck. I am personally interested in at least 10 different color sets and am looking to narrow it down.

Find your bedding first. Paint is the last choice, because there are millions of possible colors.

I would go with a complementary color to tone down the strong purplish red of the cherry. That means shades of green or yellowish oranges. Benjamin Moore Historical Colors go well with dark woods. In the greens there are Fairmont Green, Webster Green, Salisbury Green, Harrisburg Green and Waterbury Green. In the orange-yellows there are Hawthorne Yellow (a great color...my living room is this color), Weston Flax, Chestertown Buff, Concord Ivory. If you don’t like saturated color, the pale versions are Philadelphia Cream, Hepplewhite Icory, Wyeth Blue (really a green), Van Allen Green, Hollingsworth Green. If you go into the almost-white tones, I would avoid any with pink or purple undertones. Litchfield Gray, for instance, looks like a neutral but has a lot of pink. Go with complementary color, not analogous colors, is my recommendation.
