Wow. I love your inspiration bookcase. Those colors are great. I’m sure Flo will figure out what the white is. If you do that to the bookcase, the rug may have to be moved to another room.

Regarding doors, from what I can see, looks pretty standard size and you have room between doors so should be quite doable. Go to lumber supply websites and see what’s in stock. Construction is open. You might be able to go see and get advice. Paintable MDF is fine and not very expensive.

That could work. Wood is harder to paint because of grain and expansion and contraction that can lead to cracking paint. That’s why I suggested MDF. BUT whatever fits the budget can work. Just make sure you get size right. And invisible hinges.

The hinges that are on the doors probably can work. Just depends on style of hinge.

For painting wood, make sure to sand and wipe off all the dust. I redid all the doors and drawers in a large master bathroom with excellent Emerald Sherwin Williams paint. It is designed for this kind of painting. The shaker doors look like they will make the whole unit look new and fresh. Flo: are there whites in the SW line you recommend? You give such great advice.

Your post refers to this room as a “den” when it looks more like an office....a very handsome office. If you want a change, I suggest painting the walls in a lighter color found in the rug. Reupholstering the chairs will not ruin them. Go ahead with replacing the desk, chair, light fixture and blinds.

Yes. I like several. Once wall color is selected then trim/bookcase color. But in general, SW Extra White and High Reflective White are good whites.

I have a local wood painter coming for for an estimate Wednesday. I love the idea of replacing the cabinet doors but worry of the financial burden, still trying to find a feasible option. Love all your input and can wait to get rid of the 🍿 ceiling!

Maybe just paint what you have and plan to do doors later if they bug you too much! No need stressing finances especially right now. Hope you get a good person.

Thank you Flo! I did t think about that. I can always go back and replace the doors! The lady who will be doing it is really talented. I’ve seen much of her work on Facebook. She mostly paints kitchen cabinets and flips furniture.

Beautiful work Everdebz! It is such looks that inspired my dark blue paint, hoping to dress up this golden pecan wood. But it seems we can't settle for that wood color no matter what. I love the chandelier and the window treatment particularly August morning Blue.

It's likely that replacing items / or altering items you mentioned: light, desk, even window treatment.

What about only removing the light - see how it is a few days.

I like your cases obviously, but the desk is a bit darker, and with heavy light, has masculine vibe - for the desk idea:

I am sorry I haven't been on for a while. Apparently, I have lined up the room painting and the built ins paint right after, but need some advice regarding the color.

One specific question is do I keep the shelf over the cabinets in dark wood, or do I go white and gray only? I have attached 2 pictures for votes.

Currently under consideration is SW Light french gray for the walls and the built-in back wall, and Chantilly Lace for the book case.

Another question that can wait, is do I do brushed bronze or brushed brass for the hardware?

Brass will look great against the white. I think I would try SW Extra White. Chantilly is very clean bright white. Are you doing baseboard trim same color??

So I was wrong, the built in will be painted in Milk Mustache by C2 paint.
It will have some contrast against the crown molding.

I would do white and try to match trim. Structured style. Possibly put some trim on them. You will need custom due to sizes you have I believe.

This style. Possible fabric. Get a consultant to come to your home. They make it so easy. I think the relaxed style will go too master bedroom look.
