I have a sump pump discharge line that runs to the back of my house into the alley and downhill. I get water in the pit year round. It used to discharge out front but caused a nuisance on the sidewalk and the street. My yard could not handle the water. So I decided to send it out back. However, it has to go by two 90degree angles and up a 5 foot incline over 80 feet. When I first connected it, the pump (zoeller m53) was able to get the water out, however, a lot of water is standing in the pipe waiting to be pushed out in the next pump. Moving the discharge line has caused me to pump much less often in just a few days but the cycle is longer. From 15 seconds to 30 seconds. I guess I was recycling water. Is water sitting in the discharge line bad for the pump? What complications (other than the water freezing in the winter) can happen? I have a check valve. Can standing water break that over time? Should I put another pressure hole further along the pipeline? in the pictures you can see the mess it made out front and the new line I have run.
