Help: Olive Tree Black Scale

last modified: 6 years ago

My olive tree (it has evolved into more of an Olive bush) has black scale for who knows how long. I’m guessing it’s been almost a year. I was in between homes and I wanted to give him an outside summer so he was staying at my moms home. I’m guess that’s when he got it because otherwise he’s been an indoor plant and none of my other plants have it. I have been diligently spraying the tree to resolve the issue.

Anyways, I tell that because now at the base of the plant, there is a huge sore in the ”bark.” Is this because he had scale for too long? Is this recoverable? I also took a picture of the plant altogether if that helps. He has always kind of grown faster on two branches than the rest, so ignore the uneven growth. Should I separate him from my other fruiting trees? I have a grapefruit and lemon that are both actively flowering right now
