We are in design phase of new house. The front elevation is in keeping with the older part of the neighbourhood, but it is going to be much more modern inside and the rear elevation will have wall of glass and be much more contemporary shape too. Neighbourhood typically has white windows and trim, black exterior shutters (which are just for show, we are not having them) and white plantation shutters for interior window treatment. We love the lines of the plantation shutters (and I hate curtains/drapes so it makes sense to us to have the shutters inside) but wondering what it would look like if we went with black window frames (with white or house-coloured trim - or go bold and do black trim too?) - would white plantation shutters look good with black window frames though? Or would the black windows look bad anyways and should we stick with white? We are thinking the exterior will be a neutral grey colour (Hardie siding) if that helps you help us decide!
