Is this door gap too big??

Contractor just installed my bathroom's pocket door. On first sight I can't help but think, why the big gaps or am I missing something??

Left side is an inch away from the door frame, bottom is 2" off the floor. The right side doesn't even appear to sit exactly straight either, but at least there isnt a huge gap.

All videos I see have the door touch the side frame when closed, it's not like they build it out further afterwards, so why would this gap be here?

For the bottom, I still need to install flooring so that will account for ~3/4", but what about the other 1 1/4" gap?

What am I missing??

The reason the door is recessed into the opening is because it is a pocket door.

Things that are not finished can be confusing. Those gaps are necessary to accommodate the trim lumber needed to finish the job.

Indeed it is adding significantly more stress into the equation, especially here in panic ridden NYC! Imagine making huge decisions through virtual consultations. I'd like to put the breaks on things, but my contractor is loving making money by working in an empty apartment with no one around (especially me to ask him questions!!).

It's hard to tell from the pictures but why is the jamb so far behind the surface of the wall? Is the door hung or just sitting in the opening?

It needs the space at the bottom to be able to clear the flooring , the trim around it will fixe that
