The only knowledge I have to share is that it's Britten with an E.

He got quite large for me, easily 12 feet. I got him as an own root band about 6-7 years ago and he just shot up. Very thorny as well and I‘ve had a lot of problems with the canes rubbing against each other and introducing disease. The canes are very...crisp I guess you could say. The texture reminds me of cutting a fresh apple when I prune. I finally cut him way down this year and we’ll see how he does. The color is very bright orangey red with a whitish/light pink reverse on the petals. Unique color for an Austin. He has one of my favorite fragrances...fruity and sweet. I love catching a bloom at nose level. I hope he does well for you!

Here is a 2nd year plant holding its blooms upright. Not that many Austins can hold blooms upright as young plants.

Arlene- wow. 12 feet! Good to know he has the potential to get that large. I will make sure to place him accordingly. And interesting way to describe his canes. I’m assuming that will lend itself to a stronger bush that holds up the blooms quite well. I also am excited you love his fragrance! Thank you for your insight!

Part of what drew me to choose this rose was that the blooms seemed like they would be unique and I also needed one that would be brighter. I wonder if this one would do well on an obelisk? And wrap him or do you think his canes are too stiff? Or possibly a good candidate for pegging?

Rosiewells congrats on the baby. I think Benjamin Britten would be great for an obelisk. I actually just put one on a tripod. sorry for the spindly plant, but I had to defoliate be able to see in order to tie her up.
