Yep, June 10 2022 and the problem still exists, thankfully the Google algorithm delivers the answer in a fraction of the time of me reading the Swedish manual (which still fails to explain this basic function!)

He didnt give any advice e just booked a service call Soonest next month I alxo emailed customer complaints no reply Then a neighbour suggest Ask google and i got this simple answer Sad that miele service has become so bad Australia 23 June

I just want through the same situation! I could not figuré out vie To open the door! I searched in the manual and didn't find any mention.

Unfortunately, this is another frustration after dozens of problems with Miele pack of service. Their machine may be good but the service is terribly bad.

What can I say that hasn't been said before?! We chose Miele this time partly for the auto open, which Miele can't even explain in the manual even though it's a point of difference. Crazy. Hope the latch doesn't turn out to be an Achilles heel and break after the warranty expires...

Thanks so much for posting the video and agree with what several of the replies have said - surprised after all this time Miele haven’t put a sticker on the machine / added a quickstart leaflet to contain this information (before updating their user manual!)

Thanks for posting this as this as helped out to open the door. We too shared your concern about using excessive force on a brand new appliance. It’s a pity Miele doesn’t clearly state on the user manual pull firmly to open the door!

Thank you for the video. However, having to pull so hard seems like it wil break the small latch within a year or two. It almost seems as if pushing the latch a bit to the left makes the door easier to pull open, but that may just be my imagination. And I'm still confused about the salt/rinse aid/Miele washing pods combination. We have hard water, but so far are just using the Miele sample pods and are getting sparkling results. We may try non-Miele combo pods next.

Ditto to all the above. First wash, could not open the door, looked through the manual - nothing.

Going to try a more agressive pull on the door.

I push the door completely shut & then pull it open. It detaches from the door when you push it forward back into the machine to unlatch it. It is then free to open.

How ridiculous. You're provided with a detailed Operating Instructions guide plus a quick start guide and this feature is not mentioned at all .

I have called customer service . they are aware! go figure ???

We just purchased the G7156 and the instruction manual does mention proper door opening at the very beginning:

At first it doesnt explain that one actually has to give it a tug to open it. it suggests that it just opens when you pull the door but it doesnt . you actually have to pull hard hard initially!

I don’t know if something has changed, but ours doesn’t require too much muscle to pull open.

Separate topic--at the end of the cycle the door has recently become very difficult to open, you have to pull VERY firmly--new issue, was never like that. Miele has no guidance, they are saying to have is serviced. Has anyone had this issue? Possibly the latch needs to be cleaned?

Spent the last 3 months dismantling the door to extract my dishes! I can finally put away my screwdriver. Only joking.

I've had Miele Futura Dimension with the latch to let the steam out for about 4-5yrs now. As I previously posted, I just push the door closed, which closes the latch & disengages it, then the door is easily pulled open as it always is when the latch is not attached. It's always operated "like new" and I paid extra & just love the auto-open feature. Try pushing the door completely in to disengage the latch, then opening it & see if you like it.

Googled to solve the same problem, found this perfect answer: Proper lol at this one! The manual has 122 pages but if the answer is in there its well hidden!

Yes -same problem -new Miele dishwasher this week -old one you pushed the door in then it opened easily, but this one ….. glad we found this video but wonder how long it will last -seems brutal

So here is what I have noticed after using the dishwasher for a year. When the door is completely shut it takes s bit of force to open. Not much, but there is reststance. Somehow, though, this feels natural. When the door is popped open at the end of a wash, it takes exactly the same amount of force to open, no more, no less. It’s the same latch mechanism after all. For some reason this feels un-natural and you are afraid you might damage the door. It’s a psychological issue not a physical one. I think that’s why Miele can’t seem to get their head around it and provide separate instructions for opening the door once it has popped. They just don’t see the problem.

We'll join the chorus of thank yous. Such a simple thing and what a worry ... we are house sitt5ing and did not want to break our host's brand new dishwasher. Thanks you thank you thank you.

January 2024 Ditto to all comments except to add another thing The installers came to install the machine - paid an extra amount to have this done for us. He left with no instructions except to say that he ran an automatic cycle that would take 2 hours. I thought I heard water going into the machine he gave a final tweek to the water inlet tap and left. I glanced ata the machine it said "water intake" how nice I thought it tells me what cycle it is up to . 1.5 hours later it still said the same and no noise of water intake. I rang miele to ask and was put through to the service centre. no bookings for service until another fortnight. Went back to the machine and turned the water tap and it was fully closed! opened it the water came in and the cycle continued! then at the end the door was fully shut with the door lock! Not a good way to start the new year. Sadly I would no longer recommend Miele to anyone.

Sad story with the integrated Miele coffee machine it wouldn't froth milk got the service man to come out - cant be fixed, He played around with the water valve Now it can't make coffee! So we bought a free standing Delonghi coffee machine for a fraction of the price, It makes nicer coffee too.

We are dog-sitting/housesitting and was so worried we broke it. Wish us luck I’m going to try now.
