Children's picnic table refinish

I refinished an old Fisher Price picnic table. Spray painted with Rustoleum Painter's Touch 2x Ultracover Paint + Primer.
Should I put a finish over the top to help protect this outdoors? If so, please keep in mind this is for children and I do not plan to use harsh chemicals.
