with any kind of paint, the thinner it is, the more texture shows through. was it possible to spread it thicker (or build up layers)? have you worked with this brand before? or perhaps this particular countertop has more texture than what you're used to?

the color looks nice, by the way. you did a great job with the veining!

i tried to take my time and do everything right. i sanded before the paint was smooth. it was a bonding primer paint. and im afraid what if another layer doesnt fix this.

It’s a cheap attempt to do something that needs much higher grade and expensive products. And would still be a cheap shortcut.

not everybody can afford to get new countertops. maybe the original was hideous and worth the effort.

Anthony Yannuzzi - if the finish was less glossy, the texture will be less noticeable. I suggest asking the manufacturer if there is anything like a satin finish topcoat that's compatible with this.

otherwise, it's really fine for a DIY job. live with it for a while and see how you feel.

What aspects of the new finish bother you? Do you have photos of how you'd like it to look? What was under it?
