As far as sizing...

They are all fine, I don't see you needing the Brass 800$ one because it will be under a covered porch. I reserve those for fixtures that take direct element hits. The first one is great, but the hurricane glass around it would drive me nuts, just another thing to break lol.

I agree, the fourth one is definitely our favorite, but considering the price and its semi-hidden location it might be best to go with another one. We actually really liked the first one!

We're going to go with option # 4.

Now, which color? The front door is black and the gutters are brown ("rustic copper").

Do we go with Architectural Bronze or Black? (both colors have the same sheen)

My favorite option on a 10 foot ceiling is our Charleston Collection, CH 11 light fixture.

OK here is the story about brass fixtures, They are acid finished, except for black which is a painted finish. So I would go bronze or the Iron not the black. This fixture will also naturally patina down to a dark finish with time, its the nature of the metal itself.

the sheen is lacker, and that will break down with time so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

Also, go with the clear seeded glass.

Brass Light Gallery (#4) claims that the finish will not change color. Who's right, who's wrong? Also, the cost of #4 is $1,200 (not $800) because we would need the 12" version.

Adding to the complexity here is the fact that we also need to get two (2) fixtures for over the garage. These fixtures are also $1,200 each, which would bring the total bill up to $3,600. Yikes!

Is there a company "in between" Bevolo and Brass Light Gallery in terms of price and quality??

Brass changes color, its an organic material, even when acid bathed to achieve a finish, basically they are speeding up that process to achieve the Oil rubbed bronze look. Now if you where stead fast in oiling it down every six months you could retain the OG color, that being said, there is nothing wrong with a natural patina.

Arroyo will be just as expensive, so will SPJ, Maris, and any other made in the USA bras product,.

You are paying for a quality material and a quality of craftsmanship.

If you would like an easy china version of this, try Kichler lighting they make one brass series, and possibly Maxim Lighting might make one in there composite series that could work.

I will poke around for you, its really a matter if you feel like you "need" brass fixtures.

@RL Relocation LLC -- thanks for these comments. I don't think we "need" brass fixtures (we don't live near the sea and the fixtures will not be exposed to the weather). That said, we've spend almost $2 million building this house and I don't want to put up cheap, flimsy fixtures made in China. The ultimate goal would be to get a product made in the USA that doesn't cost $1,2000 per fixture (if such a thing even exists).

call this company, they are a small USA company the purchased Maris lighting, they did a lot of lighting at a fair price for me over my years in the lighting world. You can email them a picture of what you like and they will quote you there cost.

For that location I would do these goosenecks lights they are a more modern look and have the reach to go over the trim .

@likewhatyoudo -- we originally looked at the gooseneck lights, but decided against them because we perceived that they are not formal enough and that they're more evocative of a "farmhouse" style.

Im not sure where you got 500$ from, that would be a dream price from SPJ lol. Are you sure? The quality of their product is just as well, they make a very nice product and you can choose glass and finish. I have used them on a lot of high end homes on the coast of Orange County CA.

When you say 12 inch are you talking length or width?

Im seeing a cost of 730.00 for the 12 wide, 19 long, which is probably the scale you need.

Im sorry, but just because they are little known to you does not mean they are not known well with in the industry! I promise you that. You are on the east coast.. I have NEVER heard of Brass lIght Gallery in my life lol. So this might just be an east to west coast "ive never heard off, or little known," Because on the West coast they are well known.

Pretty house! You may have already picked a fixture for your porch, and I'm hoping it's one like those you have shown with a glass top to highlight your curved roof. That's what I did and I really like the light it casts.

(This was taken before staining / painting the ceiling, wall, and door.)

@mariagrazia -- Hinkley has some interesting designs, indeed. However, they are made in China. We will therefore pass on those in favor of those made in America.
