Sidelights.

I was trying to avoid the sidelights because my neighborhood isn't the best. I wouldn't feel safe to be honest.

Search for front door with sidelights on here and check out the 3/4 or even the 1/4 ones. You can still go with textured or frosted glass. It would look so much better than the siding and brighten up your entry way. If you're not comfortable with two side lights you could do one.

Really id someone wants in they will figure it out through your many windows . Get rid ogf those shutters they do not work with those windows, do a double front door and if you don’t want glass just solid ones. I personally want to see who is at my door before opening it so if you go the solid get a system for seeing the person at the door. What color siding are you getting ? I would suggest a gray/ green to work with the brick and paint the garage door the same.A door like this will still allow some light but no sight line into the house . This is the color of siding and garage door I suggest.

Definitely side lights and if not comfortable, use glass that is not transparent.

You need a secure camera system at your house no matter what you do with the door. Your safety is important and the frosted side lights will not make you less secure if you can see what is going on around your house from your computer or phone. Do that first. And consider whichever idea above is going to make your house look wonderful. I vote for sidelights too, but AFTER you buy a security system.

I agree with @RedRyder. This isn't about privacy. It's about safety.

The key is what makes you feel safe. If sidelights make you feel unsafe, don't do sidelights! No amount of doing sidelights will make you feel safe.

I'm thinking the door might originally have had side lights that were hurriedly replaced, thus the unorthodox siding-fill.

So, I guess I would put this as part of a larger question: Are there some things that you can do at your home that would make you feel safer? Then, are there things you can do with that door that will make you feel safer and would look better than the siding panels?

E.g. does the front door have an "eye"? Have you thought about a little porch for the entrance, so you'd get more safety, weather protection, place to leave parcels, wait for the school bus? With a little porch, no one would notice the siding....
