Does it smell of green apples? Looks like Rosa eglanteria of some sort.

My guess would be 'Kew Rambler' -- especially based on those prickles.

Christopher, I think you are right. If it is a thorny once bloomer rambler, I think I have to throw it away then. If I give it to my friends or neighbors, they will be mad at me :) Helen

That's a shame -- it is really beautiful in the right spot. Surely someone would love it. Perhaps start another thread -- "'Kew Rambler' available to good home".
