Stacked stone gaps

We had our fireplace facade redone-the company was amazing throughout, but my highly affinity to finding flaws in projects is driving me nuts. I’ve attached photos of the stacked stone and feel that in the middle and upper right of the fireplace there are some of the manufactured stone pieces are too far apart which gives the facade an unnatural appearance. What do you guys think? It seems like some of the pieces are wider towards the back which caused this, and they were a tad short on space to even the ends put so they spaced out a bit.

I love the design and the lines aren’t noticeable from the side. When I asked the company (very reputable fireplace and patio installation company in the area) if anything can be done to correct this, they said that they talked to the stone manufacturer who said that with this stacked stone type this is normal. Thanks and stay healthy everyone!

Personally, it looks a little unnatural because it's obvious that about 3-4 rows of "stone" are on one piece of material. So while it looks somewhat like stacked stone, there's also a brick pattern to it as well because the edges are just a little too perfect.

I'm having stacked stone installed on my fireplace and I'm running into the same issues. I see what you're talking about, I too have an eye that notices those things. I don't want it to look like we're have a veneer installed but rather more natural look. Although that said our original plan is to only have th stone on the front of the fireplace but now I'm considering wrapping around the sides too.

I think your stone looks great, though photos don’t show as much as in person of course. I’m not sure what your old fireplace looked like but if it was dark the nice light color probably opens the room up nicely and compliments all of your beautiful natural light. I hate being such a perfectionist-my husband doesn’t notice the problem and actually told me not to tell him bc he paid for it and doesn’t want to be annoyed looking at it every day. He’s noticing small issues but not still not what I’ve noticed so I have to keep quiet! I did contact the installer and they said that the stone manufacturer said that can be a normal occurrence with the veneer with multiple stones in one ”brick”. So I’m stuck looking at it every day for now . Still looks a lot better than the old fireplace before though. I would ask your installer how much it would cost to Install around the sides and go from there. Good luck!

@Jenn Hoffman Ambler,PA (7A) This is what my fireplace used to look like (sorry I only just realized I didn't take a recent before picture of the old fireplace and this isn't a very good one at that).

They finished the new stacked stone and are setting the mantle today. We reduced the size with a new firebox insert, no hearth and a new stacked stone the fasade. I'm already loving it!

It's not real stone. Looks great for what it is.

On the living room wall and out back there are some gaps…learning to adjust my eyes. 🔍
