I would say darken the trim and bring in some interesting landscaping in front of/adjacent to house.

Really cute house and I love the stonework! I agree that the blend between stone and brick is lacking because some of the bricks are the wrong color to be able to blend. I notice that the left window in the photo has two different colors of brick that surround it. The color of the brick along the bottom and lower-right side of the window blends perfectly with the stone. The bold reddish color of the brick along the top and left side just clashes. I don't know how to deal with coloring brick, but someone who does should be able to help you make the red brick blend better.

ETA: I just looked at the left side of your photo to notice the partial brick wall. I now realize that this 'unblended' brick was an intentional architectural design feature. Seeing that, I would hesitate to change it.

The stone and the brick are definitely part of the original design of the house and in my opinion add interest. I feel that the siding and trim are too light and if they were darkened, using one of the colors in the stone it would bring the overall design more into focus. I would look at painting the siding and trim and then do some landscaping to finish the look.

www.romabio.com is the place to check out. I'm thinking you could stain the brick to work better with the stone color. Probably have products to help match the mortar colors too.

Maybe something like this? Don’t be afraid of changing the door location, there are experienced people with the right cutting tools that make quick work of it. Add a window where the door was with a matching siding panel under.

You might want to add some molding around the vent at peak to give the illusion that it’s centered above the window.

I would go with a dark gray or brown on all the trim and the gable. and paint the railing to match. Don't mess with the brick. It is charming.

I just popped in to say what a great home! I love that it has charm and personality. It looks wonderful. Don't change the door location or the stone or brick. Do paint the trim dark. Do take the time for landscaping.

Here is one with darker trim. You have an amazingly charming home!!! Some suggested not to change the door but I can't bring myself to put it back. It doesnt matter if you can't do it all right now, all you need is a future plan to aim for. A door in the front says...Welcome, you're loved here!

Also, yes to a mason to get all the masonry grout the same in front.

Once you get landscaping and it grows up a bit, the parts you don’t like will not be that noticeable. You could even add a flower box under the window to further distract if you wanted. Me... I love all the mix!

I enlarged your picture and noticed right away that the stone/rock on the porch has a black mortar which really accents the rock. The rock not protected by the porch looks faded because there is little to none of the black mortar there. I would suggest you talk to someone in the masonry business who can give you some ideas about re-adding the darker grout. Maybe it's as simple as sun damage or iron in your water discoloring the rock and grout.

How about this? Two shades of gray and red on the window trim.

Red on the window trim will look good. I think Romabio can help on misecretary's suggestion about the mortar.

We didn’t paint the stone. Changing siding and paint colors created just the effect we wanted w the stone.
